In 1915 a nationwide health initiative was undertaken in China aimed at turning China into a modern state by emphasizing Western standards of hygiene and health that were not a part of the Chinese way of life. In addition to altering personal habits, these health campaigns also led to the ultimate creation of new public health institutions. That first campaign, and those in subsequent years, utilized exhibitions, films and posters to disseminate their message. They continued through the establishment of the Chinese Republic in 1949. extremely rare this series is previously undocumented.
